I am happily painting my way through my commissions queue. There are nine portraits queued up, with 3 serious inquiries in play as well. This is not a bad place to be at the beginning of the year!
The most recently completed portrait is Koda, shown below. I love painting black dogs because it is a fun challenge to represent their coats with a lot of color and make it read as black.

Currently on the easel is Shiloh (Koda’s “brother”), whose portrait is just getting started as you can see below. I am looking forward to painting his very serious expression and all that lovely detail around the muzzle!

As always, it is great fun to see the real dog emerge from blobs of paint as I work so I can’t wait to get those first washes put on and begin defining the form and details.
If you would like more information on commissioning a portrait of your dog (or cat or other pet–yes, I can do those too!), check out the Commissions page. And do feel free to contact me with questions or special requests.
